I Love My Chromie Stop Animation and Reflection

Reflection: Use the prompts on the IWB to reflect on the learning you did as part of the stop animation you made. Successful learners can also identify their next steps.

I think that the animation was amazing because my group was collaborative and easy to work with. I learnt that making small movements is really important because your video will look more realistic. The tricky part was sticking to my plan because my group had lots of fantastic ideas and they wanted to put it into our video. Next time we will check the iPod screen before we take a picture because our fingers might be in the way.

Xtramaths Certificate

In MCcahon  class we have been using xtramaths to improve on our basic fact. Xtarmaths has helped me a lot because I can answer my basic facts questions under 3 seconds. Xtramaths repeats the question a few times so you know it well. You should check this website and you will see how your basic facts will improve. This is my certificate for finishing my addtion basic facts in xtramths. When you go on xtramths they will be 3 stages you have to finish.

How much did you know about Book Club before we started?

I knew that a group of people get together and read books for a while.

Inward-Looking:

What were your goals for Reading and Book Club? Have your goals changed? Are you on track to meet your goals?

My goals for Book club was to finish my book in 3 weeks. I am onto chapter 5 and this week I need to be up to chapter 10 or 12. I am not on track to achieving this goal because to be honest with you, I really don’t read my book much, because I don’t find my book interesting.

If you were the teacher, what comments would you make about your learning so far?

I would say that I should read every night and before school. I would also say don’t get distracted when you are reading your book. Go somewhere quiet.

Forward-Looking:

As you look at your work so far, what's one thing that you would like to try to improve upon?

To not be piewacked of what I am reading. I should also not get distracted and maybe get myself comfortable so I could be more interested in the book. Reading the blurb is important because it tells you what the story is about, I am going to read the blurb a few times so I can understand what the book is about and be more interested in it.

• Coral Reef is really important to fish because it is their habitat 

May Road visit reflection

What?

Today we went on a trip to May Road school and I really enjoyed it. I learnt lots of new friends that were really nice. I also learnt some new things about my some of my family members. What I did in MRS was gave things a go and kept trying no matter what.

So what?

 Knowing new friends and being confident helped me collaborate with people because I felt shy.We brainstorm your ideas on a some paper Once I get to know people I started playing with them because I will get to know them better.

Now what?

Now, since all the new friends I have met, they are a great encouragement for me to be more confident with learning with other students I haven’t met before. Do a plan about my topic.

Today My class and Flox class went to May Road School to collaborate and meet new people.

Learning to code reflection

This week we have learning how to use codes. We have been using codes because it is a great way for problem solving. We also need to understand the codes in the game we are playing.

• What: Was that there is a code to everything. We also learnt to code.
• So what: We were learning to code because it is great for problem solving. We were also learning about this because it will help us get great at the game.
• Now what: I need to practice how to problem solve harder codes. I also need to be focused when I am problem solving the code.

Key competencies word cloud

One of the things I am PROUD of is that I  can take on a challenge, for example riding a bike.
A bike was really hard to ride at first but I kept on trying and I finally did it! I was also good at supporting the people who didn’t know how to ride a bike.


Another skill I have developed at school is trying new things. Now I just love to try new things. When you try new thing you are learning and that is a good thing. I can help people if they are struggling when trying new things.


A thing that I need to be improve on is collaborating. I am always wanting to do my ideas and not others. When it comes to groups and fun things you have to do with your group I am always wanting my ideas and don’t listen to others. Remember there's no I in the word team.


When I reflect on the last 2 terms work, I have done a massive achievement (believe.achieve.succeed)

Nga Manawa / Mangrove

 Our class have been learning about mangroves and a friend of Mrs Curtis called Kennedy came and taught us lots of information about mangroves. Kennedy taught us why we should protect the mangroves and we should protect the mangrove because it is a home to lots of animals.
Another reason why we should look after mangroves is because it makes money for people by using mangrove wood and making something out of it.

Thinglink: Ocean Currents

We have been exploring Thinglink and using it to create content which other people can use to learn from.This Thinglink is about Ocean Currents .
 3 Things I have learnt about ocean currents:

•  Thermohaline currents are caused by salt and temperature 
• Cold salty water is denser than regular warm water 
• When you put dish washing liquid in water with ground pepper in it the ground pepper floats away because the dish washing liquid broke the surface tension

This term we are learning about Marine Habitat. I have been learning about loggerhead sea turtles.Here are three cool facts about loggerhead sea turtle:

• Loggerhead sea turtles have strong jaws because they use those jaws to crush had food. 

• Loggerhead sea turtles are named after their long head.

• Nearly all the loggerhead sea turtles live in the ocean.
